Sustainable Putnam NY

Next steps, new opportunities for your involvement

Board Directors Judy Allen, Sarah Wilson, Roberto Muller, and Pete
Elder categorize Strategic Visioning ideas at a meeting in May.

As reported earlier, Sustainable Putnam’s Board of Directors recently completed its Strategic Visioning Process. We started that process with the conviction that we want Sustainable Putnam to grow, thrive, and increase its positive impact in Putnam County. One result was our new Vision, Values, and Mission Statements, now posted on our website. Check them out on our About page and let us know what you think!

Many hands make light work — and greater impact! We recognized the need to expand the organization’s leadership opportunities to a broader group of individuals. That means several new options to build our community in the role of  Volunteer, Advisor, or Director.

Specifically, we’ll soon form an Advisory Board of community members with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experience to guide our path forward. Our Board of Directors will be expanded in size, and shift to a working /governing Board model.  Watch for more info soon.

Finally, we’ll establish a Committee System to manage each program. For example, a Repair Café Committee will have its own Chair and committee members who plan and organize each repair event. This system will share the responsibility for our ongoing work among more individuals. Over time, this system will mean bigger, better programs, and more offerings.

Watch for additional updates coming soon, and please consider getting involved. Donate, apply to volunteer, or inquire about a leadership role today!
